Christmas Party Fun!

We celebrated Christmas today with lots of laughter, delicious treats, and fun games! Thank you to the parents who were able to send goodies and/or help out with the party. We had a blast!

The students started off the party by "decorating" the trees (aka some of the kids in class). It was so funny to see what they were able to create in 4 minutes with streamers and stickers!

The final products!

After the game the students enjoyed some delicious Grinch punch, cupcakes, cake pops, and fun treat bags!

Tasty Arrays

3rd graders learned how to make arrays using a very yummy ingredient - M&M's! They worked together to create various arrays to display multiplication problems. Then came the best part - eating their work!

Talented 3rd Graders

Our 3rd graders are a very talented bunch! Today we awarded the winners of the annual Disguise the Turkey contest. Students were asked to create a disguise for their turkey and we were amazed at the creativity we saw! Each participant received an award allowing them to skip their homework for a whole week! 1st place winners received a certificate and a Sonic gift card.

Look at our turkeys! 44 of our students participated!

All of the turkeys are so creative!

Thankful Thoughts

It's November! Which means we begin to prepare for Thanksgiving and begin to think about all of the great things in our lives that we can be thankful for. Each day the 3rd graders think of something they are thankful for and write it on a turkey feather. Then they add it to their turkeys hanging in the hallway. It's so neat to watch as our turkeys' feathers grow with our thankful thoughts!

Match Mine

Third graders have been learning about place value and making numbers using place value blocks. To review this skill, we played a game called Match Mine. Students worked in pairs and one partner made a number, then gave clues to their partner. Their partner then tried to make (or "match") the number with their place value blocks. The students had a great time giving clues and making numbers.

Skylee listens and places her blocks as Brody gives clues about his number

Levi checks to see if Kyler was able to match his number

Dalten listens to clues given by his partner

Courtney is working hard on trying to match her partner's number

Wyatt arranges his place value pieces

Brody works on making a number for his partner
